OMG… We’re in a cult. Long story short, the Texas Whiskey Festival is kicking off it’s 2020 event in Austin, and the Whiskey Tribe has officially been invited.

Did you catch that? I didn’t say Crowded Barrel was invited. That would actually make sense for an event that’s pouring whiskey for several hours. I said the entire Whiskey TRIBE was specifically invited.
So I was a bit confused by the Tribe’s invitation until I asked Daniel, “Why did they specifically invite this community? All whiskey people are invited anyways, right?”
“Right.”
“So are they just trying to get us to plug the festival?”
“They’re giving us a church.”
“...a church.”
“Yah, the Texas Whiskey Festival is happening at Starhill Ranch. There’s an old-timey church on the property that’s been designated as a base for Magnificent Bastards.”
“I see... You know what that means?”
“Whiskey Tribe meetup?”
“Whiskey Tribe meetup.”
This development doesn’t bode well for the Totally-Not-A-Cult faction of the Whiskey Tribe. I’ll try to stamp out any impromptu Tribe ceremonies or unsavory rituals at the event, but the Definitely-A-Cult team could overwhelm me with that level of unbridled power.
It all happens on the evening of March 7, 2020. You can find more info and grab a spot here:
Rex, Daniel, Emma, Hands and myself are confirmed to be there. If I mysteriously disappear in a frenzy of culty robes and clinking glasses, don’t mooch my shit. The dog has dibs. Don’t tell my wife.

The story of the remarkable renaissance of Irish whiskey has been told on numerous occasions. From a position of world dominance during the 19th century, the fortunes of the Irish whiskey industry steadily declined over the course of the first three-quarters of the 20th century…

Aroma sensitivity and the ability to pick out individual scents unidentifiable to the common nose is an ability that most whisky drinkers would love to possess. However, as explained in my previous article on olfactory, this is a skill learnt through practice and exposure to different types of whiskies on a regular basis. In other words, it is totally achievable…
