Kind of fun. Whimsical, yah? It’s an idea that lends itself to a thick dose of creativity. Maybe even a bit of ridiculum. My inner Monty Python is silly-walking across a holy grail of possibilities. Probably why I was so pissed off when the first round of label design options landed on my screen.
Boring. Safe. Tame. Bland. Generic. Damn near clip-art.
I get it. When a release has a limited number of bottles, it’s tempting to not invest much time into a label’s design. But c’mon. It’s a medieval knight reference! That’s gotta be worth more than a shrug and a 2 day delivery of lazy labels.
If you're gonna complain, ya gotta be willing to fix it, right?
Frankly, going full tabula rasa on this whisky label could turn into a disappointing waste of time. But we need fresh creative, and I’m betting at least one of the 15 amazing artists we handpicked will be the perfect fit for your Errant label.
They all have wildly different styles. Some may not even be interested in the gig. But I’m hoping this short description of the label’s imagery will manage to pluck the chord of imagination, aim their talent, and plop a beautiful image on your Errant Whisky label.
A medieval knight riding a whiskey barrel over a cosmic / psychedelic landscape.
In the distance, the god of bears braces for battle against the god of eagles.
The knight charges towards the brewing mayhem.
Rather than a sword, he lifts a whiskey bottle towards the heavens, imploring a massive black hole sun to bless his weapon of choice.
(sun with a negative core space cut out for visual hole into glass)
Somewhere on the label it’ll say “From a far and mysterious island, this wandering whisky searches for adventures to prove its Magnificence.”
From that starting point, our chosen artist will have free reign to poke, prod, and tickle the fiddly bits of inspiration. It’s gotta turn out better than clip-art, yah?
To the knights who say, “Neat!”
