I was late for work today. Rolled in sometime after lunch. I’d spent the morning roaming the back half of my property with a chainsaw. No real plan. Just cleaning up some brush and scraggly bits.
After an hour, I was about to stop and head to the distillery when I noticed a big oak hiding beyond a tangle of thorns and bushes. Fifteen minutes later I’m staring up the trunk of the biggest tree on my property.
Nice find. We've been living there for a few years now, and never noticed that oak growing out the side of our hill. It was little more than a passing curiosity, until I realized that the tree could easily hold a porch swing with an unobstructed view of the valley behind our house.
In other words, I just discovered a 5 star whiskey spot, MB. Throw the porch swing up, drop in a fire pit, tuck in a container for glassware - and we’re in business.
Probably gonna surprise m'lady with it next week. She’s never really been back there, and unveiling a convenient hideaway from children and technology is bound to be a point multiplier.
Moral of the story? If you show up late to work, only good things can happen… ahem*.
Or, there could be something great waiting to be discovered with a different path, and a little work.
… nah, that sucks. It’s definitely the skipping work thing.
