On the southern edge of Austin, TX there is a room. It’s not a particularly nice room. A kind description would be, “utilitarian”.
Cardboard boxes and industrial shelving command the lion's share of its usable space. A broom and dustpan would be welcomed guests. Destined for dim lights and infrequent visitors, the room has never been anything special...
Until today.
Whiskey Tribe… The new still has landed!
The past few days have been a flurry of schedules, contractors, and crews as we make the final preparations to turn a bland and dingy room into our whiskey making HQ.
A big pile of copper, glass, and glory is now ready to be assembled into a fully functional whiskey still - by people much handier than myself.
We aren’t quite ready to give you a tour of the new equipment yet, but it can’t come soon enough. Especially since the distillery is now open 5 days a week, and the new equipment is only 100 yards away from Crowded Barrel’s tasting room.
NOW OPEN:
Wednesday 3pm-7pm
Thursday 3pm-7pm
Friday 11am-8pm
Saturday 11am-8pm
Sunday 2-7pm
Since we’re cranking up the volume, we may as well start doing monthly tasting events at the distillery. (More details to come!) A baby eagle told me Emma is dreaming up some fun pours. And if you’re ever trying to catch the lads, they can usually be found on the Crowded Barrel deck on Friday evenings.
Is it just me, or is the air outside particularly fresh today? Like it’s easier to breathe or something.
