Sometimes it’s nice to be recognized, ya know? After getting some ink and nods in Texas Monthly and Forbes magazines, the New York Times has weighed in on Crowded Barrel’s role (at least one of them) in American whiskey.
We definitely aren’t the main focus of the article, and you can thank our awesome friends at Lost Lantern for the plug. Even so, that’s not bad for a distillery that just opened its doors a few years ago!
The story speaks to the rise of independent bottling and blending in American Whiskey, which is definitely one of our biggest priorities. You can check out the NYT article here. It’s fairly comprehensive, without getting bogged down in details.
Frankly, the write up is going to be enormously helpful in future conversations with craft distillers. Many of them are so focused on just making a good spirit, that they have little awareness of what independent bottling is - and why it’s proven invaluable to smaller whisk(e)y makers in other countries.
If you’ve been with us a while, you know that the Whiskey Tribe’s distillery is tackling all kinds of whiskey projects. You’ve aimed our experiments at everything from making, sourcing, blending, and finishing. But highlighting interesting distilleries with a CB Alliance release, is one of the more fulfilling (and easy) things we get to do around here.
Here’s to the rising tide that lifts all boats.
