| We finally broke summer's back. It happened last week. A cool wind blew in along with a handful of showers. It took us down a solid 10 degrees. That
doesn’t sound like a lot, but it’s enough to go from rocks to neat.
Unfortunately, the source of our relief came at a high cost.
Our seasonal transition was escorted by a hurricane. Ida made landfall in Louisiana, and caused yet another round of devastation across the state. We’ve had Cajun refugees staying on campus for weeks, and many of them returned home to unknown situations with power, water, and their homes.
Seems to be how life rolls sometimes. A non-stop balancing act of tragedy and relief, pain and beauty, joy and sorrow.
This weekend, maybe take some time to share a whiskey with friends and loved ones.
Just a brief pause to mark your place.
Life can be hard, but it’s also beautiful.
