4pm today has been heading your way at a steady pace of 60 spm (seconds per minute) for your entire life. Ten years ago you never thought about 4pm today. Now it is hours away. Ten years ago almost anything could happen to you at 4pm today, but reality is coalescing quickly into something firm and unchanging.
4pm today has been heading your way at a steady pace of 60 spm (seconds per minute) for your entire life. Ten years ago you never thought about 4pm today. Now it is hours away. Odds are, you already know about where you will be at 4pm today. As the moment gets closer, your options narrow. At t-minus 60 minutes your choices are severely limited. You can call an audible at the last minute, of course. Change your clothes, jump in the car, do something unexpected. But by t-minus 60 seconds, reality is hard upon you and there isn’t much you can do about it.
The present moment is a singularity, a razor-thin slice of life in which the potential of the future becomes the hardened reality of the past. We live in a constant stream of these moments, an endless flowing of life through and around us. In each moment we experience the loss of everything that might have been and the birth of everything that is.
Our 4pm Fridays are fairly set in stone these days. Happy Hour at the Fang & Feather has become a tradition that we can’t miss.
So unlike, you, we know almost exactly where will be at 4pm today. And likely what we will be doing. And we will be doing our best to be in the singular moment with all the other MB’s who made the trek to Austin to hang out with us on a Friday at Crowded Barrel.
Maybe we will also see you there on a Friday.
