I know we’re supposed to express this kind of gratitude during the Thanksgiving holiday. But… nah. Christmas is the holiday I choose to reflect on the things I’m grateful for. Maybe it’s the gift giving and generosity. Maybe it's an impending new year carrying the promise of new beginnings.
Or maybe (definitely) it’s the fact that I don’t want a Holiday to tell me how to feel.
Just take a step back, Thanksgiving. That’s all I’m saying. You and your big weird bird aren’t the boss of me. I’ll be thankful whenever I want to.
That probably makes me petty. It’s ok. I trust you won’t tell anyone.
There’s a list of things to plug, mention, and update you on, but they’ll keep. For now, I’m going to make memories and live a life with my family that wouldn’t have been possible without you.
Which brings us full circle.
Thank you for riding shotgun on this ridiculous ride.
