I went a little extreme with our Quarterly Challenge this time around. That official “dry week” ends this Saturday at 2:00pm (central). Our community has done enough dry weeks that a break (optional) from alcohol consumption is pretty easy. So I made things hard… In addition to not drinking booze, I decided to not eat anything and see how it went.

So I made things hard…
In addition to not drinking booze, I decided to not eat anything and see how it went. No real reason. Just curious. Never done it before. Didn’t have a “program” to follow. Just stopped consuming food for a while.
The results are both predictable and surprising - at least to someone like me who never really looked into this stuff.
Getting started, I was hungry - of course. The first day was by far the worst. But the 2nd day of no food had less of an edge. And by the 3rd day, I didn’t even realize I was hungry unless I thought about it.
On the afternoon of the 3rd day, this job required me to taste and review a few bites. But I think I could have easily coasted into a 4th or 5th day without eating my own arm off.
But the most surprising thing? I was bursting with mental clarity and physical energy. In past dry weeks, not drinking alcohol has had little physical effect on me. But not eating food? Oh geez. I expected to drag my malnourished bag of meat across the parking lot and into a chair - but I was bouncier than 4 cups of coffee.
Lost 5 pounds too, but that wasn’t the point.
All that to say, I’m looking forward to the next Quarterly Challenge. If you successfully completed an intentional week without alcohol this quarter, you are cordially invited to add your name to the list of Whiskey Challengers here. https://whiskeytribe.com/pages/whiskey-challengers
AND, this is the last chance to take 20% off the entire Whiskey Tribe merch store. Just use the code: “DRY20” at https://whiskeytribe.com/ to take 20% off your order. I recommend the experimental line of our barrel rested coffees. That tasty blackness really took the edge off the first couple of days.
