| With everyone spread out, distanced, and remoted - it can get a little lonely around here, ya know? Especially since Crowded Barrel had to close it’s tasting room for a 2nd time.
Maybe it’s just me, but phone calls often seem a bit intrusive. I usually just text people. Short, simple, direct, clear - love it. But this week - I intruded.
It’s been an age and a half since I raised a glass with, Emma. Turns out, there’s a thick lineup of whisk(e)y barrels that will soon need bottling, and she just finished putting together a game plan.
“What’s the barrel you’re most excited about, Emma?”
“Uuuuhhhhhmmmm…”
“Sophie’s choice. Gotta pick one. What’s good-good?”
“Yah, the Islay barrel finished bourbon is coming soon. It’s the 2nd time we finished bourbon in that barrel, and it’s still giving us some really nice flavors.”
“Save me a bottle?”
“Done.”
“Thanks. You’re still a bad mother for choosing a favorite though.”
“But a Magnificent Bastard?”
“Always.”
